Recognizing that positive aesthetic values increases one's appreciation of the nature of God, several courses in music, drama, and the arts are offered.
 

Creative Expression Seminar (CES)
1 Credit

This is a survey course designed to expand a student's knowledge of music and art. Each student will be encouraged to develop their own unique talents. The preparation of the yearbook may be part of the first semester program.
 
 
Drama Workshop/Dramation (Dramatic Creation)
  1/2 Credit


This course will be offered by audition/interview. The function of the class is to improve students' self-expression and communication skills. It will be run as a workshop with participation in school productions for credit. Enrollment is limited
 
 
Band
1/2 Credit

This performance course allows more advanced players (level 2) an opportunity to actively participate in a program of instrumental band music. Grading will be based on attendance at rehearsals and performances. A performance schedule will be available at the beginning of each semester. Students are urged to continue private lessons on their instrument.
 
 
String Orchestra
1/2 Credit

This group invites string players of various levels to participate in string ensemble music. There will be opportunity for performance with other local string ensembles during the school year. Grading will be based on attendance at rehearsals and skill improvement. Students are urged to continue private lessons on their instrument. This class is for those who want an enjoyable music experience and preparation for future string performance.
 
 
Choir
1/2 Credit

This performing vocal ensemble is for students who wish to represent GBA through a quality vocal experience. Various musical styles will be studied and performed in concerts, services, and festivals throughout each year. Grading is based on class and performance attendance. A performance schedule will be available at the beginning of each semester.
 
 
Chorale
1 Credit

Chorale is composed of students who have been chosen by audition for the quality of their voices and their musical and sight-reading experience. The ensemble performs 15-20 concerts each year, both locally and throughout New England. Chorale members are required to belong to the GBA Choir.
