Foreign Language The knowledge of languages brings students into contact with new ideas and exposes them to a broader concept of the world. It is the aim of GBA's foreign language classes to provide cultural enrichment beyond the learning of the language as a study of grammar in addition to acquiring a foundation in comprehension, writing and conversation. Spanish 1 1 Credit This course is intended for beginners with no prior knowledge of Spanish. It is designed to guide students toward functional communicative proficiency while developing a general insight into how languages work. The goal is to equip students to function in a Spanish-speaking culture, to use the language for a lifetime of personal enjoyment and enrichment, to appreciate the role of Hispanic cultures in a global context, and to continue expanding their communicative proficiency for further education or the work place. Spanish 2 1 Credit Prerequisite - Spanish I with a minimum grade of C This course is designed to guide second year students toward further expansion of their communicative proficiency in the Spanish language. The student-oriented vocabulary and grammar concepts are presented and practiced within each of the various proficiency skills: Listening, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural knowledge. |
