Computer Science

Computer Science provides an opportunity for students to experience both theoretical and hands-on experience with computers and their functions.


Keyboarding                                                                                                                  1 Credit

The goal of this course is for students to learn touch typing and learn to keyboard using proper style, form, and posture. Emphasis is placed on speed, accuracy and attitude. Microsoft Word is taught during the second semester.


Word Processing                                                                                                           1 Credit

Prerequisite - Keyboarding with a minimum of C.

The purpose of this course is to give students a working knowledge of Microsoft Word. Lessons include entering and formatting text, setting up columns, page breaks and page numbering, using spell and thesaurus utilities, copying, moving, deleting and renaming blocks of text in a document and on a disk, using tables and merging main and data files.


Computer Applications                                                                                                 1 Credit


This course introduces students to computer technology, covering computer history, literacy, ethics and telecommunications. Students learn the uses of computers in the business world with hands-on experience of integrated software (Microsoft Office) in word processing and desktop publishing, spreadsheets, database and graphics presentation.
